Keyboard Action & Touch Sensitivity

The Kawai CA501 is equipped with Kawai’s renowned Grand Feel Compact (GFC) wooden-key action. Engineered to replicate the authentic touch and feel of a fine grand piano, it features grade-weighted hammers, bass region counterweights, let-off simulation, and a triple-sensor key detection system for flawless note repetition and dynamic nuance.

Key Construction & Key Count

Featuring a standard 88-key layout, all 88 keys are crafted from 100% long-piece solid wood—no plastic cores. The white keys are coated with Kawai’s moisture-absorbing Ivory Touch key surfaces to prevent slipping and ensure superior tactile comfort during extended practice sessions.

Acoustic Realism & Sound Engines

Powered by Kawai’s Harmonic Imaging XL (HI-XL) sound engine, every note of world-renowned grand pianos is recorded across all 88 keys. Key tone features include:

• Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand: All-new piano samples recorded from the player’s perspective for exceptional brilliance and clarity.
• Shigeru Kawai SK-5 & Kawai EX Grands: Additional concert and chamber grand options alongside upright piano voicings.
• Virtual Technician Customization: Adjust 21 acoustic parameters (damper resonance, string resonance, key-off effect, hammer noise, touch curve, and voicing) to sculpt your ideal piano tone.
• Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS): Enhances spatial depth and realism when listening through headphones for reduced ear fatigue during private practice.
